How much do seamless gutters cost in South Carolina?
Seamless gutter cost in the Midlands is set mostly by linear footage, number of stories, corners and downspouts, and whether guards or fascia repair are included. What actually moves the price
- Linear footage. The biggest factor. A ranch with a simple rectangle roof needs far less gutter than a two-story home with multiple rooflines and a wraparound porch.
- Stories and access. Second-story runs take longer and need taller ladders or standoffs. Steep lots, decks and landscaping under the eaves add setup time.
- Corners and outlets. Every inside or outside corner is a hand-mitered joint, and every downspout is an outlet, elbows and strapping. Complex rooflines cost more than long straight runs of the same length.
- Downspouts and drainage. More downspouts, extensions, splash blocks or buried drain lines to move water away from the foundation.
- Gutter size and gauge. 6-inch .027 aluminum costs a little more per foot than 5-inch builder stock and is what we install as standard, because it handles Midlands storms.
- Gutter guards. Adding Bulldog or Grizzly guards roughly changes the job from "gutters" to "gutters plus protection." Many homeowners add them at install because the crew is already on the ladder.
- Fascia and removal. Tearing off old gutters and hauling them away, and replacing rotted fascia board so the new hangers hold, are separate lines when they apply.
- Color. Standard white and common colors are the base. Specialty colors or copper are priced separately.
Why quotes for the same house can differ so much
Three companies can look at one house and come back with three very different numbers, and the difference is usually in what each one is quoting rather than the gutter itself. A quote that assumes 5-inch gutters, spike-and-ferrule hangers and the minimum number of downspouts will be cheaper than one that specifies 6-inch trough, screw-in hidden hangers and a downspout at every inside corner. A franchise quote often carries the cost of a commissioned sales visit and financing.
Ask every bidder the same questions: what size gutter, what gauge, what hangers and how far apart, how many downspouts and where, and whether removal and fascia are included. Then compare line by line, not bottom line to bottom line.
